We Need Your Help

You may know me as your local fitness and diet expert for 13abc. Or maybe you know my Fitzone By Erika brand or experienced one of my classes. Or maybe you know me for my community involvement with CWA Local 4319, NAACP 3204, the University of Toledo’s Catharine S. Eberly Center for Women, Toledo’s African American Male Wellness Walk Initiative and elsewhere.

But you may not know I’m equally committed to improving the health of people throughout Lucas County, including my family, friends, colleagues, neighbors – and you. And this year, I’m asking everyone to embrace this commitment with me.

In early 2020, the Healthy Lucas County coalition of community health improvement organizations is sending surveys to randomly selected adults and parents of young children. Results from these surveys, as well as those collected from school students, will give our coalition a snapshot of the health of residents of all ages.

Survey results help Healthy Lucas County coalition members and other organizations determine where to direct efforts to improve our community’s health. For example, survey results have helped coalition members bring more than $20 million worth of grants into Lucas County in the last five years. This funding has helped women have healthy babies, students get meals after school, residents manage diabetes and heart disease, and many other projects.

Quite simply, we need your help. If you get a survey from Healthy Lucas County in the mail, please answer the questions and mail it back in the stamped, pre-addressed envelope.

All survey responses are anonymous. They will be compiled and released in a community health assessment report in late 2020.

Want to know more about the community health assessment that Healthy Lucas County performs every three years? This booklet gives highlights and trends from the last health assessment. All of our most recent assessments and reports can be found here.

Thanks in advance for helping make Lucas County a healthier place for all of us. And remember: Watch for a large green envelope in the mail, fill out the survey booklet inside and return it!
