County Health Rankings

Lucas County was once again rated among the unhealthiest counties statewide, and its standings for both health outcomes and health factors are worse, according to the 2019 County Health Rankings.

With health outcomes, Lucas County ranked 69 out of Ohio’s 88 counties, down from 66 in 2018. Lucas County ranked worse than Ohio’s average on premature death and with residents having poor or fair health.

For health factors, Lucas County ranked 79 out of Ohio’s 88 counties, down from 76 in 2018. Rates for adult obesity, physical inactivity, alcohol-impaired driving deaths, preventable hospital stays, unemployment, children in poverty, violent crime and severe housing problems were among measures that were worse in Lucas County than the statewide average.

County Health Rankings is a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. The chart below shows Lucas County’s ranking for the last five years.
